Will they get along?

Hi there........

I'm just trying to find out what my next addition to my 65 gal tank is going to be....... I already have 6 tiger barbs and 1 red tailed shark. Now i was wondering if say a pair of convict's or a firemouth will be ok with the current inhabitants. Will my tank be large enough for them.(48x18x18) . I have also decided on adding about 3 clown loaches. ANy help would be great as i would like to get some ideas and research them.

Firemouths are pretty peaceful, but can get agressive when breeding. Convicts, WILL get agressive when breeding. If you plan on breeding either you are bound to lose some fish Get one of each!

It's hit or miss with the cons and those fish. You have a big tank so they have room to get away.

I haven't lost any of my 13 barbs in my 38Gal. They do get chased here and there but nothing to tire them or stress them. Plus there is enough to spread it out

I would go with the Convicts. But why not try another combination? What abouty another semi-aggressive N.W Cichlid like a Jack Dempsey? or some Rams?
