Will These Mix Ok

Hi All,

Current tank inmates in sig at bottom, my daughter would like me to get a siamese fighting fish as she likes them, I want to eventually get a pair of Rams, will all these live together ok, the fighting fish wasn't one I was planning of but as I said my daughter wants to get one.

Betta's (Siamese Fighters) don't do well in community tank. But you could still get one, you would just have to buy a tank that is atleast 1 gallon, 2.5 gallons would be ideal, IMO.

Betta's aren't hard to take care of either, you could even get your daughter involved (somewhat). Just remember to read up on them. (As with any fish of course)

Yep, betta's do betta in tanks on their own. I'd say a 12"x8"x8" would be prefect, bigger the better.

The rams seem a good idea, the only thing i'd worry about is the 'feather fin catfish' may eat the neons depending on what it is.

Thanks for the replies, looks like the siamese fighter is going to be out. The featherfin is only small around 2.5 cm at the moment, I'll have to see how he gets on with the neons. Any suggestions for another nice colourful fish which could be my daughters which would fit with the other inhabitants.

Rainbow fish are pretty colorful, but i don't know much info about them, so I don't know how they would do in that tank...Killifish are really colorful also, but really aren't suited very well to a community tank...

Featherfin catfish is most likely syndontis eupterus (or a similar hybrid). they get quite large and would probably eat small fish. For something similar, check out synodontis nigriventris, the upside down catfish. Also a catfish from the mochokidae family like the eupterus, the nigriventris swims upside down and does well in small groups, but doesn;t grow so huge.

Be sure to get the right upside down cats, another catfish sold as USD cat is brachysynodontis batensoda, which is very aggressive.
