will bosemani rainbows sunset platies and neons/otto's eat cherry shrimp, i will have plants for them to hide in, but dont want to waste my money if they are going to be treated as food

As long as the shrimp aren't babies, you'll be fine. If the shrimp breed you'll most likely lose the babies to the ever-hungry rainbows though.

I'd be worried about the bosemani rainbows, they have the potential to grow to around 5" which is pretty substantial compared to a cherry shrimp so I think even the adults may be eaten, I think your best bet is to have masses of moss, which should hopefully give the shrimp somewhere to hide. I wouldn't personally do it, as I think the rainbows would eat the cherries.

I would put money on adult boesemani eating cherry shrimp, (adult and baby shrimp). They might be fine when young but when mature they will hunt glass shrimp, and cherry shrimp are smaller than them.

rainbows - eat babies and adults
Platies - eat babies
neons - eat babies
otos - safe

my platies can sometimes eat the babies but i've never seen the neons eats them
all you need to do is make sure you have a really densly planted patch and the babies will survive to adult hood
i've got lots of LIVE babies in my tanks even with the platys , limias , neons , minnows , guppies , corys and harlequins
and they are tiny ones aswell

the ones that get eaten when tiny are the silly ones that go for a walk around the tank and dont stay in the planted hidy hole

Thanks Sarah xx
