I’m planning to get 5+ male guppies and 2 or 3 speckled corys in a 12 gallon tank. Is there room for anything else? How many of each would be best?
Is a heavily planted tank best with rocks and wood?

The general rule is an inch of fish per gallon of water minus tail length, so I reckon you will have used about 6 inches of fish length with the ones you mentioned. That leaves another 6 inches so perhaps a couple more corys, as they love to shoal, and maybe a few more livebearers? Platys are pretty and if you stick to males they won't interbreed of course.

cories need to be in groups for 4+ so more of them.
but
if you are planning on 5 male guppies they will fight. You need 1 male and 4 femaled perferabky. The males can even kill eachother

hey do you have a powerhead?

how do the guppies go with a bit of current? i have an UGF which causes quite a current and am looking at posssible fish to get. will they be able to cope?
