Will He Ever Stop Pooping?

First of all can anyone tell from my crappy(no pun) picture if this is indeed a common pleco?

Anyways. From the day I got him(About a week) all he does is poop. I did have lots of brown algae which he is taking care of rather quickly. I'm wondering if he just went to town on the tank and now is 'recycling it'. This is NO exaggeration.. The other day he had a poop haning out of him that was easily OVER 2ft long.

Is this common for them?

dont be alarmed. plecs poop a LOT. as long as it isnt whilte,slimy and stringy ur good

Sounds about right to me. A lot of people have the idea they can add a pleco to "keep their tank clean". The reality is they will crap for Africa and while they will probably helo keep the glass clear, they will mess the tank up in a big way. The only way to stop it would be to stop feeding them, but then they would die.

welcome to the world of pleco's. pooping is their primary function, the only thing that comes a close second... more pooping

Dam, If I only knew. There's 12in poops all over the place and I just did a water change.
