Will Goldies Survie A Scottish Winter

A friend of mine has a very large deep pond stocked with various course fish (common carp, roach, tench etc) and he recently decided to add in a few dozen small goldfish he got cheap. They seem to be doing great and fattening up but will they survive the winter? Last winter was pretty extreme.

as long as there is mud for them to bury in and the pond won't freeze solid, they should be fine.

It's at least 5/6 feet deep though it's not filtered (but its huge and has tons of plants) and last year it did freeze solid but there didnt seem to be any noticeable fish die off
