Will different types of barbs school

These Barbs are shoaling fish

- Arulius Barb
- Rosy Barb
- Cuming's Barb
- Lemon Fin Barb
- Golden Dwarf Barb
- Ember Barb
- Black Ruby Barb
- Checker Barb
- Five-banded Barb
- Roloff's Barb
- Golden Barb
- Schuberti Barb

They are the ones that I know of.

As far as I know, different species will not actually come together to form a school. For example, 3 tiger barbs and 2 cherries will not become one happy group of 5. They're actually extremely different, not to mention that cherry barbs aren't schooling fish. :)

The Barb's I have seem to all play together. I think the green tigers barbs and tiger barbs are very closely related? So possibly similiar behavour? The black ruby's are slightly different, but still chases and gets chased by other tigers.

Couldn't say for sure what other Barbs would be like together, but these work.

Green Tiger Barbs are the same species as regular tiger barbs. They are a line bred colour form, (hypermelanic), as are the gold tiger barbs, (hypomelanic).

I believe that green barbs and golden barbs are also/were once thought (depending on the book you read) to be the same species and as such they are known to shoal together (they seem unaware they are different species if in fact they are)

Although this is just read info, I have not had any of these fish and cannot say for sure maybe someone else can, but a shoal of these mixed should look fairly outstanding!!!

NOTE:- This is GREEN barbs not GREEN TIGER BARBS- also note, some people in some fish stores seem to not to have a clue and will sell green tiger barbs as green barbs

golden barbs are different than TIGER barbs. Will they school together.. not sure.. but if you want different looking fish.. i have 2 albino, 2 striped, 2 green, 2 red TIGER BARBS.. they love schooling together.

tiger barbs are fun to watch.. sometime they'll pair off.. sometimes they'll triple up.. othertimes they'll go head to head

>>> some people in some fish stores seem to not to have a clue

I prefer "most people in most fish stores seem to not to have a clue" !

The "Golden Barb" is a yellow colour morph of Barbus semifasciolatus - thus "Green" barbs and "Golden" barbs are the same species. As you rightly point out, neither has anything in common with a tiger.

This is strange, but... I have some Neon Rosy Barbs and some of them are mostly silver in color. I also have some Buenos Aires Tetra's, and some times, all the silver Neon Rosy Barbs AND the Buenos Aires Tetras will group up and tear around the tank together, its really quite a sight!
