Will A Fluval 4+ Do The Job?

For my new 4ft by 18" x 12" tank I have purchased a Fluval 4+ internal filter.

Will this be ok for this size tank??

it will be sufficient for a lightly stocked tank.

my 48x15x18 has a 4+ in addition to an Eheim pro 2224
but I do tend to stock in ample quantities

so what your saying is the more fish I wish to keep - the more filtration I am going to need?

If that is the case - is it worth buying another Fluval 4+ or just use 1 external filer to do the whole job and not bother with the fluval 4+ I have?

PS. How many fish would you say I could stock using just the 1 fluval 4+ in my current setup?

I use a fluval 4 in my 26 gallon 4ft tank and its great, it clogs up quick though so y ou need to be up on your maintenance. Never had any probs at all with mine and my tank is pretty much on the stocking limits.

but enheim are alot better like wolf said.

external ones always are better than internal ones.

well i have a fluval 4+ internal in my 39gal and decided i am going to change over to malawis, so i bought a eheim 2224, i haven't set the tank up yet but, i will probably be having both eheim 2224 and the fluval4+ in it, then i may be ablt overstock a little.
IMO fluval 4+ are not very good, they clog easy and take up a bit of room and not worth the money.

so if i was you i would go for an external filter, i suggest an eheim 2224.
up to you though, its your tank afterall

I am looking at a eheim 2224 on ebay. it is buy it now @ £77.90 and comes with the media and all the pipes etc. is this a good price?

Think I found a good deal and went for it!! Have never used an external filter before so buying on pure recomendations off you guys.

Had a Eheim 2224 of http/store.livingseas.co.uk/index.asp (not sure if i'm allowed to post a link on the forum! sorry if i'm not). £68.95 with free delivery! orders over £35 have free delivery! Worth a look.

Let me know if I could have had one cheaper elsewhere. Anyway, no doubt I'll be back on here with questions on setting it up !!
