will 7 cories in a 10 gallon make them

I don't think it would stunt their growth, but IMO keeping only five corys (in addition to a couple middle- or upper-dwelling fish) would be better.

Oh... you said you were getting a bigger tank for them? In that case, it should be fine as a temporary home.

Seven of them even in a 10 gallon permanately should be fine if a little cramped on the bottom. Cories are so low maintenence and sociable they shouldn't have troubles in there. It does make the tank look empty without any mid to upper level swimmers though.

Hi kevin007 :)

It all depends on the amount of effort you make to keep the tank clean. Even if they are grown you can keep them there if you change the water regularly and siphon the dirt off the bottom.

Corys need lots of clean and fresh water and if you want to avoid bacterial infections and other problems, you will make the effort. If you do, you will be rewarded with very happy and lively little fish. :D

Depends on what type of corys too I think. I dunno about some of the ones that grow to 3" but I think the 2" ones like the Juli (one i or two?) would be fine. Would be a little cramped like others said and it depends on if you have any other fish in there.

well they are sterbai cories, and i plan to have a "cory tank" might be a litle boring bu ti would love to see the cories roam around in schoold

Hi kevin007 :)

A cory tank will never be boring! :fun: But it might really be a good idea to move them into a larger tank when they mature. A 20 gallon long makes a most excellent cory tank.

20 gallon 10 is good enough? i was thinking of a 45 to 55 gallon

that's great to hear!

Hi kevin007 :)

Bigger is always better! But a 20 gallon long (not high) is a nicely proportioned tank for corys. The amount of bottom space is high in proportion to the height. It's nice looking and gives the corys lots of room to move around.

Of course, a bigger tank can hold more corys or other fish, but in proportion, the corys will be more crowded on the bottom.

Does that make sense? :dunno:
