Wild Betta Tank Set-up

Was thinking a 15 gallon (24Lx12Wx12H) is probably a good enough size. Wild's tend to be jumpers so I would keep the water 4" from the top.

Ideally, the tank should also be fairly well planted. This should allow the mother and fry to stay in the same tank as the father.

Do you guys think the tank should be filtered? My concern is if you plant a unfiltered tank, than how do produce the nitrites the plants need to survive?

Also, if we used brackish conditioned waters what kind of plants would survive in that environment.

Sometimes I wonder if all this is too much trouble and I should just barracks them the same way I keep my other betta's.
