months and months ago we spotted a wierd shell type thing tucked away in one of the bits of LR, it looked sort of like the shell from mussels but really small, no more than half a cm long. anyway it hung around for a few days and then dissapeared, we were never able to get close enough to get a good look at it. anyway last night it re-appeared nearly twice the size and in a different place. wondering if you know what it could be and if it's dangerous or anything

it's on one of the big pieces of LR at the bottom of the stack and I'm reluctant to tear the whole tank apart to get it somewhere i can get a photo of it, but the shell is the same shape as mussels you'd get to eat, grey with lighter possibly white growth rings around it. we can only see one side of the shell cos of how it's laid, i assume there is another side and something living in between!

i'll try and get a pic if no ones got a clue but thought it was worth an ask before i pull the tank apart.

don't think so, wrong shape for a limpet

think my description was really rubbish, and i'm also bored at work so done a little sketch in word to give you a better idea of the shape

the black line being the outline, grey lines being the growth rings, i think there are actually two shells joined where the red arrow is but i can't quite see cos of where it's sat on the rock. it's no more than 1cm long at the moment
