I have this betta for breeding but have no idea what kind it is. When i first got it it was sold to me as a "New Moon" betta. I posted pics and people said that was a made up name. I got better pics now so i hope they can be distinguesed. Thnk
Hesreally big though. Hes like twice the size of my female and the same size as my vt wich lived in walmart for like 3 mounths and with me for like 1 so hes pretty much full grown basing it on im guessing walmart gets adult bettas. ill post a pic of both him and female to show size. There pretty much parrelel. I do think shes kinda young though. But he is the same size of my vt. well tanks for the help keep posting.
Boxman, Sorry, He's not really anywhere near you. His profile says NJ, that's NEW Jersey. Americans sometimes just say Jersey, when we are talking about New Jersey. Funny, though, I never hear anyone say "York" when they mean NEW York.
Anyway, Jersey, your dude is a cambodian, I can tell that from the body color and the eyes. The red is called red wash. It is what breeders generally try to breed OUT, but I think it jazzes this great guy up a bit. Awsome looking betta.
He's not a Cambodian. He's Cellophane. Cambodians have red fins if they're traditional Cambodians, and Green Cambodians have green fins, and Blue Cambodians have blue fins.
This little guy (if the photos show his colors right) is a cellophane.
Cellophane is a coloration characterized by a flesh-colored body and clear fins. Your boy there also has a red wash, which means irregular and generally undesired patterns of red.
Cambodian is also a coloration, characterized by a white or flesh-colored body and red fins.
Delta is the tail type, characterized by a tail that comes out at straight angles from the body, but not with a wide enough tail spread to be a Super Delta (at a 150 degree spread) or a Halfmoon (at 180 degrees).
So i could say it is a Cellophane-Delta with red wash. And will the fry come out how if the mother is a purpleish-blue crowntail. I want to breed them. Thanks for so much help keep it comin!
