Hi guys,

I have just taken the juwel background out of our lido 120 (the actual black juwel item which is like £20, think its called STR)

I took this out as it was terribly dirty, anyway I bought some of the cheaper vinyl stuff and have placed it outside the tank at the rear.

Now, the picture is very dark and you can hardly see the colour on it, its very bright without looking at it through the tank.

is this normal? as ive only ever had the STR background

thanks

It could be that the background isn't properly attached (Ie. there are air bubbles imbetween the background and the tank glass)
A well used trick is to get some vaseline on the back of the tank and smooth all of the airpockets out of the background you are attaching. The vaseline will also help hold the background in place. :)

The other thing it could be is algae build up on the back wall of the tank, in which case you might just need to scrape the algae off to see the new background properly.

Thanks for the tip, I will give it a go.

Its not the algae issue as the glass is very clean

I use something called Seaview. Works on the same principle as vaseline. It is like baby oil and you smear on back of tank them smooth background over with a credit card to get bubbles out. Magic stuff, looks like the background is on the inside it is so bright and stays put......
