I have a 48" 65 watt x2 Coralife light. It might need new bulbs would that cause it to cut out. Or could water be getting in and shorting it out? It has a plastic cover over the bulb but I don't have a hood or anything else separating it from the water. It seems like when it warms up it shuts off. Then when it cools down it turns on.

What the deal? Any ideas? It just started doing this.

depending on how old the unit is i would take it back.

sounds to me as if its over heating and there's a thermal cutout tuning it off. once it cools down enough it allows it to restrike and start up again

My juwel unit was doing exactly the same a few weeks ago. Switch on, ok for a few minutes, lights switch off. Turned out to be the tubes in my case.

I left it off the whole day took it off the top of my aquarium so it could dry. I turned it on today and it's all good. Too much splashing I guess . It's all better now.
