I just came home to find my nem doing the strangest thing i always thought they stay put

Nah, they totally walk. I'd move the powerhead before he gets in it... :crazy:
 
From what I can gather, your tank had not long been set up on 5 February, now by the 12 February you have an anemone that is walking. My bet is that the nem is far from happy at being in such a new tank and is trying to move to a better location.

I can't help but feel a lack of patience is the issue here, especially as far as adding a nem to such a new tank is concerned.
 
Agreed, there is some stressor here. When an anemone finds a good spot, they will stay put (most of mine haven't moved an inch). But if the spot is a poor one, that is it lacks or has too much of something (flow, lighting, food are all variables) they will search for a better one. If there is some point in the tank that is suitable and they find it, they will stop. If there isn't, they will keep walking until dead.
 
I have been doing a little research, mainly involving BTS's and whilst all posts above are relevant I would also like to add that it may well be on the move to aquire more light.
