I've heard people say u need an empty tank to breed bettas......
....i was wondering if anyone knew why...?

if so please inform me.....

There's a pinned article in the betta section (or maybe the breeding?). However, to answer your question, the males spit the eggs that fall into the bubble nest. if you have gravel in the tank the eggs can't be retrieved.

As for being empty, the tank should have broadleafed plants that reach the water surface. The male needs this to help lodge his nest into place.
