Hello All im posting this here as i need advice from plec owners. My bristle nose has an odd shaped symetrical patch on the head just behind the eyes its looks like a cap. its slightly a different colour and i can see it scales on the back is this normal. I currently treating for itch and velvet with protazin. The others have itch this fish has been like this for months without any other symptoms.

Ive upped water changes stats are normal, it stands out more when i first switch on lights.

It also has a small patch further down by its tail that you can make out. This is where it started first.

Thanks for all your help

it could be just natural colouration. my BN can be a variety of browns, including being patchy.

It looks natural to me too; especially as it's so symmetrical.

looks just like mine. You will probably even find that the patches change colour occassionally. My BN regularly changes his shade across his body.

Thankyou for putting my mind at rest as she changed from baby fish 2in long she looked really different. Im glad she is healthy and i can stop worring.

I saw a lovely looking orange/yellow type plec with orangy brown spots or stripes cant remember now at 2in what are these? they were so cute.
