Today is tank cleaning day. Fourteen tanks and the garden pond. Enough work, right? So I get this wild hair that I want to keep my panda cories separated from my bronze for breeding purposes. I scan the room and ah ha! I can move the shrimp from the 20G long into the 10G quarantine which the pandas are currently in. Tried to talk myself out of the work but no, my mind is made up. So I move the panda’s into a 6.5 quarantine that a filled with their tank water, along with their sand and decor. Then I proceed to move shrimp tank water over to 10G. Then I start moving gravel ( yep, gravel still in shrimp tank) while catching about 100 cherry shrimp. At this point I am kicking myself but shrimp were surprisingly easy to catch. There, shrimp tank set up again. So then I begin cleaning the 20G long because shrimp are nasty whether you want to agree or not. Water was green and smelt like a swamp from algae sticks. Yes, I clean it weekly but still gross. So I get it all clean and ready. I look at the tank the cories are in and realize there’s not enough sand for the 20G long. Crud! Now I get to clean new sand. I have about 3/4 of it done. Decided to take a break and rant for a minute. OK...back to work. Then I still have all the other tanks to do. Will send pics later. :)

How're you getting on?

Fourteen tanks and a pond. That's a lot of tanks and a lot of work. .Yikes. I couldn't deal with that many tanks. I'm happy with my 35 gallon, 29 gallon, and my 5 gallon Beta tank - at least for now ;)

Done! Got those 2 done plus got my (2) 29G’s done and my 55G. All I have tomorrow are the betta tanks, the 75G and 45G goldfish tanks and the pond. I only had 2 panda cories left in my 55G and they were so excited to go in the 20 long with 6 more pandas. They’re just playing in a pack right now. Pics later. Too tired tonight. :)

I have it down to such a routine that it’s not bad. Just time consuming. Crazy as it sounds, I really do love my fish. :)

How long does it take to WC all those tanks?

If I stick to it, about 4-5 hours. I usually do all of the fish room on Monday 10 A.M. to about 2 or 3 P.M. Usually break a couple of times for about 15 minutes and check my phone. Then I do the goldfish, 75G, 45G, and pond on Tuesday. A couple hours on that.

Why don’t you buy a garden hose or python hose?

I have 8 tanks right now and I’m doing bi weekly water changes,
It only took me about 2 hours to finishes all of it.

@Barry Tetra I do use a Python. What sizes are your tanks? I’m not just doing water changes. I’m cleaning the tanks too. Scrubbing the sides with a brush, vacuuming the bottom, and every other week cleaning the filter cartridges. Size of the tanks makes a huge difference because filling them takes time.

What do you do with the pond? What's in it? How big?

It’s just a garden pond. 150 gallons. 4 goldfish in it. 2 are about a foot long. I vacuum the bottom and drain 50% then refill. It’s under a patio cover.
