aaagggghhhhh!!! the reason is because they are like a mutt dog! they are found in petshops.its almost like not an official betta sort of thing!!! they are great5 pets but DO NOT BREED!!!!!

if you want to breed get a quality pair from bettaman here

I'm told by my lfs that vt's are hardier than other types. This is true of the experiences I've had with ct's but not .5 moons. Of the girlies they all seem hardy as to me.

that could explain why the per shops keep VTs!!! maybe the conditions arnt perfect so they can cope with it if there hardier!!!

Think of it this way, would you go the pound and adopt a dog and breed it with your own? No. Because you have no idea what the lines are like, which breeds they are, etc. Its basically a mutt. Same as a VT.


Petshops keep VT's not because they are hardier but because they are the cheapest to buy from wholesale suppliers.

Shops sell VTs because they are so common. Its like... rats. You are not likely to find a show quality rat in Pets at home, are you? Thats because your average 'bog standard' rat is so common. However, the only time I'd breed VT's is if I had a rarish colour, like black, purple or yellow.
