Have absolutely no luck with apple snails -had several in livebearer tank but they all died. I added a new healthy magnificent 2in specimen before I realised the extent of the problem and even that died after a week.I don't think it's anything to do with the water -tank is well filtered with 40% weekly water changes. Angelfish, guppies, BN seem fine and MTS and ramshorns breeding like rabbits. I moved all remaining apples and some new babies to another tank where they seemed OK for a while but just found the largest one dead. Again common snails and ramshorn are breeding prolifically in the same tank. My apples seem to grow to about 1in diameter, lay 4 clutches of eggs and die. Each time deaths started after eggs appeared -do females die after laying eggs? Also don't know why but I've had avout 9 clutches of eggs laid on lid and near top of tank but none ever hatched. Tried removing some clutches and keeping them on damp tissue but stil no baby apples hatched.
