Why Do Fish Flakes Smell Of Fish?

Why do you think that most fish flakes smell of fish? Surely eating something than smells like yourself is wrong. Would you eat crisps that smelled of humans? Dog food doesn't smell like dog does it? Although they both smell pretty bad most of the time.

Any suggestions?

Have you even looked at the ingredients on the side of canister? Especially some of the higher quality foods, like Omega One's, the first 3 or 4 ingredients are all fish products.

Comparing fish to eating fish to dogs or humans isn't really fair. You have to remember that almost all out aquarium fish are pretty low on the food chain... in nature they are intended to be eaten by the next biggest fish. And almost any fish will eat any smaller fish that may fit in their mouths. It is just nature.

A fish eating a fish of a different species is not cannibalism. For example, a Pimelodus pictus may eat a guppy, but these are very different fish, so that is not cannibalism.

People eat cows, we and cows are very different of course, but both are mammals. This is not cannibalism, but is the equivilent of the catfish eating a guppy.

Some fish are cannibals though, growing fry will often eat one another to survive, but because fish don't have minds or feelings as complex as a human's, they don't care. It's survival of the fittest
