Why did this betta die???

well, my bf had a crowntail betta who was doing perfectly fine. he fed her regularly, did water changes, etc......well, just yesterday morning, he looked at her and noticed a huge lump right behind her eye....well, he quickly came over and borrowed my betta max, and gave it to her, hoping it would help. he came home from work tonight just to find the girl on the bottom of the hospital tank dead....no lump at all. but she did suddenly have bloody red gills. our best guess is that the lump had internally popped.

could someone please tell me what happened?

Sounds like a Ulcer or Tumor busted.

I really dont know what it could be... but if it was that sudden probably couldnt have been prevented it may have been in her gene line

i'd be suprised if it was genetic.....he got her from INBS on aquabid.....they have some nice betta's.
