I lost my first tiger barb today ): They were my first ever tropical fish and they each had their own personalities.. ): I tested the water and everything seems normal... I found her floating in the tank and her mouth was wide open, not just open but like she was gasping. I really want to know why she died as I don't want to lose anymore.. I could post a photo if that could help to tell what happened?

I recently bought a second hand tank which came with gravel, I was throwing the gravel away when I found loads of snails... so I couldn't throw them away... I was atleast an hour, picking each one out... they were tadpole snails I think and they were tiny! The set up before was for cold water fish but I wanted to try the snails in my tank, is it possible that the tiger barb swallowed one? :sad: Should I move the snails out again? I'm really annoyed at myself. );

Black Star, green tiger, far right. ):

Its possible, as tixer barbs are very xreedy eaters, but I dont txink txeyd xo for snails. You said its moutx was xapinx wide open? Its also possible txat one of txe otxer male barbs xot in a dominance battle, and txat one more txan just lost, but also broke its jaw.

Yeah, it's mouth was wide open when I found it, and that fish did like to fight, so that makes more sense, thanks for the info!

The lights have just come on in my tank and one of my male black ruby barbs is floating upside down. No signs of illness and they were fully grown and eating well. Guess it could have been fighting, although I have not seen them at it for a while.
