Vids from youtube about piranhas ripping the life out of live animals, I know that nature is nature and there is a food chain but for goodness sake why are the immature prats on here who like to think it is "cool, awesome and good" allowed to post such stuff.

And before anyone says "do not look if you do not like it" then forget it as i've personally got no problem with watching stuff like this but i do not agree that youtube should allow this kind of stuff from the Beevus and Buttheads of this world and for it to be also allowed on this forum. These things are ideally used for nature programmes and docs and are made in a professional, natural and educational manner without man/woman actually adding live animals to the water to be filmed like this.

Please could the mods have a chat amongst themselves regarding this issue, if you feel that they are to be allowed then so be it but maybe it is something to think about.

Thanks.

i have to agree with modaz im afraid. we all know what piranhas are capable of, so we dont really need to see it, only put a link to youtube, if it will appeal to the masses. for example a documentary on the life of cichlids, if it is educational and people can learn from it fair enough but not some mindless ripping apart of a poor bird. i myself enjoy hunting, and fishing but do not need to be reminded of what 'deadly' animals can do. i also think its time for the mods to have a dicussion and maybe implement a new rule, stating that links to websites such as youtube should be either eductional or to do with the person posting, E.G. here is a vid of my tank can you leave comments on the forum.

thank you! i was some what afraid to post this on here as most of the time things like this are replied by the beevus and buttheads and spammers on forums. its nice to hear that someone else has the same view as me :good:

Live feeding is always an emotive subject. On the forums here, live feeding videos, if they have genuine merit are tolerated on the Predators forum. They are routinely removed from other places, and of course, if you had reported the thread, it would probably be gone quite quickly - now I have to start trawling all over the board to find it.

It is counter productive to ban links to YouTube as many people use the service to publish their videos.

It is not possible to put "Mod Review", (where the post has to be approved before being visible), on post types, only on posters.

i havent even clicked on it as i had a bad feeling what it may include, so no thanks not for me, maybe they should only be alowed in the predator section, but then i suppose some would say no to that too, but the title clearly states whats in the thread so if you dont want to see it dont click on it :)

while it may not be practical to put a ban on them that would prevent them from being posted it would be possible to modify the rules to explicitley state it meaning there's no more 'oh i don't like that' it's just 'this topic breaks the rules, report it and it gets removed' IYKWIM

The Board Rules already state...

Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

... so Report the post. Reports automatically send us e-mails with a reference to the thread.
