about 4 weeks ago i bought 7 figure 8's, they are in a mature spiecies 40g tank
feeding well on blood worm prawns cockles etc

they are in brackish water 1.005

water levels have been good but at the moment they are
ammonia 0.25
nitrite 0
nitrite 60

water change 10% weekly
(anymore info needed please ask)

yesterday one died

got up this morning another has died :byebye:

of the remaining five, four look well but one is not eating this morning

anyone got any clues as to whats going on

(if any mods think i will get more help in brackish or odds please feel free to move)

Is there any signs of the puffers picking one eachother? 7 Puffers seems like a bit lot to me concidering they tend to be very terretorial. Fin nipping or anything? If that is the case, I'm guessing its stress that has killed them. Besides that I'm afraid I really wouldnt know!

--Edit--
Just though of something. Were they in brackish water already when you bought them? You might have put the saltiness up too fast, seeing as I believe its best to bring it up with 0.001 a month

they were already brackish and i made sure the salinity was the same.

they seem very peacefull together, there are plenty of hiding places caves etc in there, they even eat well together so don't think they're stressed. when i got them they had been nipping each others fins in the lfs but they were only in a 15g, now all fins are fine.

Try a water change you have a ammonia reading.

Still have the same problem LT? I would think its down to stress from the amount you have in that space, might seem ok when the light is on, but at night it may be a different story. Try posting in the oddball forum, more expert puffer people there.

i've heard puffer people say that they are sensitive to not so great water specs. Maybe you should do more than 10% water changes.
