I have a 20 gal with 2 Platies, 3 Cherry barbs, 4 albino Barbs
and 3 tiger barbs.

And my one Tiger Barb "Luie" Rules!
He is the most brighly colored and the largest!
I noticed a few mins ago, that he swims around the tank, checking all the other fish out and if he does not like what he sees *Bam* he nips them and chases them around the tank until he is satisfied they learned their lesson! :D

And when its feeding time he gets whatever he goes after---
NOBODY gets in Louie's way 8)

Does anyone else have fish that act this way???

none that act that way, but my fave, well so far is my gold twinbar platy, 'cause she's so pretty.

in my tank it desides on where you visit....if you visit the left bottom corner, which is kinda shielded off with a curved plastic plant, the gourami is the boss....he'll throw such a hissy fit if anyone goes near this place!

on the other side of the tank, there are the 3 tin foils....i don't know if you can consider them the boss of this area, since they do nothing to stop intruders, but it is where they like to hang out.

the top half, and every other uninhabited place in the tank is where you'll find my sunfish....who fight with the gourami sometimes for "full tank leadership"...but no one ever wins. sometimes, the 2 sunfish fight with eachother....but they stick together alot of the time.

then there is the pleco...i hardly ever see him, but he is the boss of a small piece of cave-decor which he can hardly fit into....but this is where he enjoys hiding.

last of all, the REAL boss of the entire tank, is the catfish....even though he stays in one area of the tank all day (the log-decor) when it comes night time, everyone knows who the man of the tank is, and there ain't no one who's gonna get the guts to argue with him. i've only watched him a couple times, and if he see's anyone in his way, he'll chase them for about 3 seconds...he is about 6-8 inches long....as opposed to all other compitition in the tank with the maximum size of 2-3 inches...Demon takes the lead.

I have a platy identical to that....and she was sold to me as a "comet platy"??

The boss in my tank would have to be my male bnose catfish, Dyson....though the male platy grown up fry likes to pretend he has the power by bossing the other fish around (I also think he may be a first time dad soon with possibly his mother??? )

My pictus. He knocks the cories with his barbels if they have something he wants, and the guppies know that if they were any smaller he'd have eaten them like he did the others. Of course, they don't realise its just a matter of time... or at least until I get my gudgeon...

My larger male afra "Jaws" is the boss of my 75 gallon cichlid tank. He's got the big teeth and the attitude to match. Recently he knocked up his woman, then got sick of her nagging and ended up killing her. I have 4 major caves in that tank. He owns 2 1/2 of them, the junior male afra(Big Fat Harry) owns the other 1 1/2. Although the syndontis catfish can go where he pleases for the most part.

Here's a pic of Jaws:

In my 50G tank one of my Kribs deffinatly rules the roost. Always knows when I'm feeding and follows me around, gets to everything first and checks out every new fish that I put in the tank. It has so much character.

Thankfully it is now very secure and doesnt attack any of my fish like it did when it was in my 15G because it has plenty of space.

The boss of my tank would have to be my baby guppy. He's about 1/2 the size a the grown up one's but he's still the boss. It's so funny to watch him.

thats odd, my RTBShark is very placid indeed and is very happy to swim around with my clown loaches or just scavange on his own.

Is there a difference between Ruby shark and RTBShark?

Ben

in my 4ft, it has to be one of my larger hoplos, hes about 3-5 inches long, and quite thick.. my albino rainbow shark has a try everynow and again..but soon backs down.

in my 3ft id have to say my sanil.. i know it sounds weird.. but he totaly rules the 3fter.. no of my fish go near him

in my 2ft... well theres only jack in there... he had to be seperated from all other fish because he was stressin them out..

ive got a 10 gallon with 3 wcm on of which is gold, and 3 platys 2females 1 male

with the white clouds my gold white cloud vegas is the boss.

And with my platys my male sunset fire wag platy magma thinks he's the boss, and he is when it comes to adding more males to the tank, but my female painted platy is the boss on him.
