my husband and sons came home with a pretty little male guppy the other day. i was a bit worried that the male molly and platy would pick on him, but things did not turn out that way.
this fancy little guy was approched by the platy first. man, i thought it would be bad, the Tshimshin was flaring, curling his tail, and swimming circles around this little guy. i was about to get a net and rescue him before the striking began (Tshimshin has a nasty strike) then it happened. the guppy turned around and swam up to Tshimshin real slow untill he was right next to him. then guppy reached out and bit Tshimshin. noone knew what to do, he wasnt fighting, he was announcing "I WILL NOT PUT UP WITH CRAP!" two encounters latter "Turkey" is the king of the tank. he is great at keeping the fish in their place.

is there a fish in charge in your tanks? how did they become in charge? i think this will be intresting :fun:  :D

Each of mine are king (or queen) of their own little abode. However, if it were a free-for-all, my money would be on Little Sumo - this HUGE Viet/Malay plakat I just bought today. Jeez this guy is as big as my thumb - and that's just his body!

King of the community is a big girlie platy! she is the owner, even with the betta when he goes for the weekly swim! S.A puffs in t'other

In all my betta tanks....the male betta  In my angel tank the angels  in my fry tanks...the biggest fry

-black ghost knife is the king of his cave, anyone get's too close will be chased away
-pictus cat is king of the bottom, he'll push everyone away to get his food
-one of my bigger blue gourami will chase other gouramis around the tank so I guess he's the king for what's left of the tank

Erm, well I dont know who the king is but i know who the Queen is and he wont leave the other boys alone

The king of my coldwater is Kentaro the weather loach and whe he's on holiday Big Vern the red and white common.

My large tropical tank's king has to be Bub, the big black angel fish during the day and then at night Brucilla my L134 plec.

My smaller tank doesn't really have a king, could be Bandit my Schwartzi cory because he's the biggest cory and the othly one not in a pair other than an albino barb. Yeah, Bandit it is!

My Pacu....he's only about twenty inches.....that should be big enough for a crown ya think?

My 15" australian arowana is by far the ruler of his tank, my other tanks dont seem to have any one dominant fish, they all seem to just get on with living together.

My dwarf gourami is definitely king of the 10 gallon. They all know it too! He really isn't aggro at all, but if anybody gets too close and aren't respecting "his area", all he has to do is make a tiny lunge and they're outa there!!

As for the other tanks, most are bettas who rule their domain completely... they'll attack anything that goes in, whether it be baster, or finger!

The six... it's about even, maybe my dwarf gourami female, she picked on everyone when she first went in there, but now they all get along. Guess she made herself clear right away!! :D
