DUKE! TURK Gf renamed him

Well we've all had our moments, i've just had mine. I'm sure i won't regret this even if i'm cringing somewhat at the choice i've made. Theres no doubt he'll be cared for, and in time the tank will become his and dedicated to him. But for now he's a tiddler, about 1".

His arrival confirms my outlined plans for adding my new firemouths to the dempsey tank downstairs when they grow on, his current tank will become just his, upsizing in 12 months (or so) when i need to.

So without further ado i shall give you two shots of my latest aquisition. I'm going to let him settle before i get pics of him outside the bag, but for now...here he is.

I say 'he', but i don't really know tbh :p

Yay for Duke! Turk!

You stinker! you only sent me the first pic

He is sooooooooooooo sweet  They grow fast, really fast, you are talking 1"/month easily, Rusty was 2" including tail when I got him in June, he is now 5-6" and Chops has grown 1".

He is going to take over your tank, your heart and your life!

I did indeed only send you the first pic, its called a sweetner ;) Gets you hooked lol. Worked didnt it?

I know they grow 1" a month, thus why i'm seriously concidering minxfishy's Rio for sale ;)

He was labelled "Tiger Oscar", for £6.50. Although i don't think he's a tiger somehow  I'd love to know what strain he/she is, but i don't know Oscars at all (yet).

Very very Cool, I love oscars and would love to have them again some day.
You are right that he is not a Tiger, Looks more Wild from the markings. If you Want a better more +ve ID hop on over to MFk for those who keep them in bigger numbers and Types.

I found my WC Oscar doesn't grow that fast it got to about 6inch and slowed right down.

I thought wild too initially, but possibly tiger with hints of the orangy markings.

Doesnt take them long to find food, just one bit of advice, handfeeding is lovely but if he starts to jump for food, walk away and dont feed him. Go back later then feed him, a jumping oscar at 1-3" is cute, 6" you get very wet!! Rusty used to jump when I hand fed him, if he jumped I shut the lid and walked off. Now I can hand feed him quite easily. Chops on the other hand is completely mad

 £6.50!!?! My LFS charges £35 for them.

Looks like a little stunner keep us updated :good:

I've been to a few shops. Some had them at £10 but they didnt look fantastic. Then i saw some at £5 and they were clearly all runts. And then i spotted this lil fella in Coventry Aquatics for £6.50. He was the last one left and i just had to have him.

The girlfriend has just renamed him "Turk", to continue my theme of naming them after people from Scrubs lol.

So Duke, is now Turk...and if it turns out to be female this could get very confusing :p

Oscars are only $2.99 at my LFS. Thats only 2 Euro I think
