At about three and a half-four weeks, you'll be able to start spotting the males! No rule says you have to take them to the store before you're ready! I usually don't take fish to the store until they're between 2-3 months old.Yes all from the same parents. The older ones are 3and a half weeks . Yes my lfs said he'll take them at 4 weeks but I'm not ready to part with them yet ! Plus I wanna keep some males when I can figure out which is which
Thanks ...I'm wondering could I soon let them loose into the main tank for a while with the adults ? I know it will be harder catching them .but I'd like to see them outAt about three and a half-four weeks, you'll be able to start spotting the males! Oh! Another tip, they'll be sexually mature by three months old, but males continue to mature and colour up, and grow their fins longer up until they're about six months old. They'll be very clearly male by three months, but my longer finned boys take a bit longer than that for their long tail and dorsal to grow in fully, and their colours deepen in that time.
Have a look at some videos about how to sex guppy fry, you'll get pretty good at spotting the differences so you can sort the fry into male and female I normally sort them at a month old.
Here's one vid to get you started, I'd recommend watching a few different ones to pick up different hints and tricks and to practice spotting the difference yourself before you start sorting yours into containers
Aww thanks . It has a great big hiding space in it for them aswellLots of babies!!
I dont normally like castles and such for tank decor but I actually really love this setup, its cute
Sure! As long as they're larger than the largest mouth in the tank (I'm sorry, I can't remember your stocking) then they're good to go back into the main tank. It's best not to keep them in the breeder box for too long, it can stunt their growth apparently, better if they have some space to swimThanks ...I'm wondering could I soon let them loose into the main tank for a while with the adults ? Thanks that's just the moonlight on . More colourful when the daylight is on . Your castle is massive. Looks great !My guppy tank also has a castle but your is much brighter. I like the rocks with words on them too-relax,chill and escape is a nice theme. My castle tank I call LOTR theme is a little darker.
Peppered cories are the biggest. And they dont seem to interested in eating them biggest there are still 3 or 4 3 day old ones in the main tank that I couldn't catchSure! Thank you, I think it is 24 inches long by 8 inches wide and 15 inches high. I set it up for my baby granddaughter to enjoy. Thanks that's just the moonlight on . More colourful when the daylight is on . Your castle is massive. Looks great !
Oh the cories won't bother them! I put newborn guppy fry in the same tank as my cories 'cos cories are such sweeties, they're not out trying to eat fry They might accidentally eat their own eggs and fry, but that's derpy rather than predatory, and guppy fry are more than capable of avoiding even when newborn. They'll be fine, let 'em out! You should get someone to film you releasing them from the box into the tank, it'll be cute!
