I've read that it is good to have a quarantine tank, and to use it on all new and sick fish, so I wanted to see who actually does this.

I have a couple 10 gallon tanks and always quarantine new fish. I just move fish around to get a hospital tank when I need one. I have a permanent resident in a 2 gallon hospital tank, a serpae tetra that got injured and has a swim bladder injury.

I have a 10US tank which I use as a ospital tank. I do not quarentine new fish although I know I should. I don't like to keep fish in it for very long as it's so small IMO.

I have never had massive problems with new fish introducing disease or anything. Most of the fish I get have been in quarentine with the supplier for 2 weeks.

I think you might be missing the distinction between quarantine tank and hospital tank. Although many use the same tank to serve both purposes, those are different purposes.

Also, In the case of sick fish, it's not always considered good to separate them for treatment. For instance, with ich, it's generally recommended that you treat all the fish in that tank.

So I guess my answer would be "I have a quarantine tank, and a hospital tank. I quarantine all new fish, and use the hospital tank for treatment of most fish, when necessary".

I don't have a quarantine tank. I have a spare 1 gallon that's not being used, but I feel that's too small to use for a quarantine or hospital tank.

No I dont have one and when i consider how long ive been in the hobby I guess im surprised at myself lol.

I tend tyo buy from good lfs not dodgy Wallamrt types (englsih equivalents). Even so i think a small Quarantine tank wuld be useful.

I have a few 10 gallon tanks that I put up and take down according to what I need. They get used for hospital tanks, for quarantining new fish (when I know ahead of time that I'll be getting them), and for spawning/raising fry.

Since I have a 55 gallon and can clone a 10 gallon cycled tank with no problems, I do not keep an extra tank set up when I don't need it for a specific purpose.

:fish: I have a 15 gal tank which is set up all the time with a large male angel in it (he's a wife beater so can't go in my showtank) if I need the tank the male angel goes into a 4ft breeding tank(sectioned off of course) :D

I have a 10g and lots of spare houses (bowls pvc pipes ect would work well too, but not plants... needs to be easy to clean). I took it down recently but have the filter going on the main tank for fast re-set up. I have a nice heater-thermometer combo for it so I can get the right temp fast and easy.
It is nice to have if the cichilds start getting nasty or have more babys.

i don't but wish i did

for now if any fish get really sick i put them in a bucket. so far none have come out of the bucket alive :byebye:
