I had the beginnings of some white stringy stuff here and there on the gravel last week so I did a nice thorough gravel vacuuming.

But today, after a few days away, I came home to find that the tank is carpeted in this stuff.

My best guess is some kind of fungus.

The fish seem OK, and water paramaters are fine.

Any ideas what it is our how to get rid of it?

If it is fungus it could be from uneaten food??? What do you feed the fish and how much?

I vary it alot.

Some flakes, some blood worm, some tubifex (once in a while).

I also put in a few shrimp pellets or algae wafers now and then.

I don't think I'm overfeeding. I only feed once to twice a day, and only as much as they can polish off pretty quickly.

Now some flakes do get stuck in the gravel now and then as is the nature of flakes, but not a large amount.

That's all fine, the problem I have right now is getting rid of it.

It's ugly!!!
