White spotted puffers

Saw a tank of 'white spotted puffers' in my LFS - they were beautiful, opalescent white underneath and black and white on top, same kind of pattern as GSPs. Does anyone have any info on them? The ones i saw were reserved, but if i knew how to take care of them properly I'd love to get one or two.

Yep, this is a marine puffer that is found in brackish water only when young.
Keeping it in freshwater will cause it to wither & die.

It's also known as the stars and stripes toadfish.

It gets up to half a meter long

So if you can provide a six foot reef tank, the go ahead and buy one.

It's also possible that the LFS have mislabled the tank and the puffers are actually Chelenodon patoca, the Milk-Spotted puffer which is also brackish when young then marine as an adult but doesn't get quite as big at 30cm.

Would still need a large reef tank though.
