:D Good Evening All,

I hope that all the Daddy's out there had a nice Father's Day. :) Ok, I have found another Ghost Shrimp and again, lol I am in love. :) Does anyone know if White Spotted Pearl Shrimp would go with Beta Fish. Fletcher (AKA: The Beta) is due on Tuesday, and I would love to get Him some friends. I do not want anyone to be killed though. He is more important but, I LOVE Shrimp and would love to get a few. What do you all think???????? All advice good or bad, is welcome. Thank you so much :)!!!!!!!!

This is probably something best asked in the betta forum but nevermind :)

The answer is unfortunately not straight forward - it depends on the betta. Many will do fine with shrimp - others will eat/kill them and are highly aggressive. To an extent, you can estimate how aggressive the betta could be - eg: a plakat is far mroe likely to be aggressive and able to kill the shrimp than a crowntail. You also need to consdier the setup tiself - if there are many small (too small for the betta) hiding places near substrate level and/or lots of plants, it would be wortha try. Also, not having overly-illuminating eyes would help prevent the shrimp from attracting the betta's attention too often.

Thank you for your reply my friend. I never thought to post this one on the Beta Forum but, I will go there now. I completely understand what you mean. I have had two Beta's in my life. Unfortunately, the first one, named Blue, lived in one of those vases, as I was given Him by a friend and She NOR I knew nothing about Beta's. He was all alone and lived in that horrib vase for two years.

My darling Daniel on the other hand, loved the Apple Snails and ALL the snails I had. He lived though only a year (well that is actually stretching it) and He lived also with some tiny (very tiny Trumpet Snails.) He got along GREAT with them, and He was, as fish go, extremely friendly. Toward the end, when we KNEW He was dying, I use to pet Him. I know, you are never suppose to touch a fish but, it was obvious He was leaving me, and I had to let Him know I was there. The ONLY belings He was EVER aggressive too, were the GHOST SHRIMP. Oh wow, He hated those things. He would go after them every time. Ok, I have talked your eyes out lol long enough. I will go to the Beta Forum now, and post. Thank you so much for your time. Sincerely, Dawn
