Hi guys, first post on this forum!
Got a major problem with white spot in my community tank, first noticed it about 2 weeks ago and started treatment, but it is getting worse and worse, i've done all the usual, removed the carbon element of the filter, raised the water temp to speed up the cycle, but can not seem to beat it, has hit my pair of black widow tetras very badly and have already lost 4 fish, with at least another 2 on the way out, anyone got any ideas on how to beat it?

Have you tried using king british white spot treatment, it is a green liquid in a wee blue bottle you can get it from your lfs for about £4.00. When you use it make sure you keep your lights off in the tank because the light helps the white spot breed.

Also mix it up with some tank water first in a wee jar it just helps to mix round in the water.

Also try doing a water change with a gravel vacuum. If you can, get right in amongst the gravel thats where I believe the ich lives, around the edges of the tank.

Apart from that it's just a waiting game, I had whietspot not so long ago once I started using that king british stuff it sorted it in about a week.

Just out of curiosity, what meds are you currently using, and what temp have you put your tank up to?

its king british i've been using, i've done pretty much everything you've mentioned except the gravel vacuum which i don't have! i've had that treatment recommended to me by so many people but it seems to be having no effect whatsoever!

I'm medicating for ich in my tank too, I'd say temp is spot on (exactly whay i've got mine at :p . I'm usin Ichcide in my tank, it killed off the ich pretty successfully. The thing is, every time i use it I get a death in my tank, unfortunate coincidence I think :/

But anyway, I'd say invest in a gravel vac, you definately want to collect some of the spores which have dropped off into your gravel.
