hello, just bought some clown loaches from pets at home (2 off)now been in the tank for 2 days and i think they have got white spot, none of my other fish have it,is it curable, did my tank cause it or did they already have it,had my water checked 2 days b4 i bought them and all the results were how they should be except the ph was slightly high, now another question, how many hours should you leave an airstone on for,and the tank light

White spot looks like salt was sprinkled all over the fish.

As for where it come from, it is possible that it came from the fish store.

For your air stone you could leave it on all day and all night. However if your air pump is noisy you could just turn it on for during the day and then turn it off at night.

As for the light. It is good to give the fish a good 7-10hours of light a day. This will give them ther perspective of a regular day.

Good Luck! :good:

White spot is extremely common on clown loaches when they move tanks. There's plenty of treatments for it and it clears up after a couple of days. I've just had the same thing with my new clowns, the guy in the LFS told me to expect it.

Sorry to hear your Clowns have the Ich, but with proper meds and a slight temp raise you should be able to cure the problem. I just had a delivery of clown loaches all where fine exept from one, who had severe slime, blood streaks through the body and white spot, needless to say he did not eat and had to be removed from the tank to save the others. :( I hope your clowns make it as they are a lovely fish to keep.

just bought some white spot treatment, made the water turn blue but its gone back clear now, i had to remove the carbon filter will this affect any of the balance of the water

no you should be alright. just don't overfeed because you don't want the food to fall to the bottom and add to the ammonia cycle. then you'd have to change water and that'd take out some of the medicine
