Hi guys
We've recently lost 4 platys and a cardinal tetra, all in the space of about a week. I was gonna take some test and post on here last night to see if anyone could suggest what was wrong - they all seemed to be healthy. Then when I came home from work last night I noticed what looks like a major outbreak of white spot all over my tetras and a few guppys are starting to show white spots on their tails too. Got up about 5 minutes ago to find 3 tetras dead. However the platys that had previously died showed no signs that we noticed and certainly no spots after the little guys had died - could this have been the cause of their deaths too and is it normal that the spots disappear afetr they've died?
Obviously my first question is what can we do NOW to help things? I'm gonna go to the LFS in a mo and get some treatment but I want to do as much as I can. I've read that salting the tank will help but I'm a little concerned about doing that cos we've got quite a few catfish and laoches - I've read they don't handle salt very well. Are the catfish gonna be ok with any medication we put in too? Also gonna do a water change in a bit.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated - I don't wanna lose any more fish

Follow the instructions on the medication. Some of them say to use a half dose if you have catfish. Others are fine with a full dose. I wouldn't bother with the salt as the meds should take care of it.
