My daughter has a pregnant guppy, who seems ready to pop any day, and about 3 days ago I noticed a small white dot on her lip. I immediately thought ick, and proceeded to treat the tank with jungle ick clear tank buddies. Well, 2 treatments later, that spot is still there, so I'm thinking maybe it's not ick. I searched online, and found somebody else who had a pregnant guppy with a white spot on her lip just like mine! What is it? Should I discontinue treatments? She seems perfectly healthy, happy and very active, and I don't want to hurt her babies when they're born with the treatments, but I don't want them getting sick, either. Recommendations? :fish:

I was wondering if you have checked your water? Ever guppy that I have ever had, has gotten this dot thing on their lip. I also searched everywhere, but then started checking my water. It usually turned out that i needed to do a water change or a good cleaning. I would check the water for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and then see where you are from there. Guppies in my tanks seem to get everything way before i ever know there is something wrong. If you are using ick treatment, did you take the carbon out of your filter? If not, then all of the med is in the carbon. Good luck and let us know what your water is so that we might try to help.

Hi! My water is at 6.7, and I did remove the filter during treatment, so it should have been effective, right? Also, I change out about 20% of the water about every 3-4 days, so it stays really clean. In this particular tank is one female betta, 2 albino cory catfish, 4 guppies, 3 very young ottos, and tons of live plants. All appear to be all right, though I think the ottos are extremely stressed by the treatment. It looks like she has a pimple on her lower lip, but other than that, no other spots on anybody, and good health all around. I'm really at a loss. :fish:

The same thing happened to me, after my Molly gave birth. It went away in a day, though. Strange!

My mollies get this, only not just when theyre pregnant. I always wondered, because they don't get it anywhere else and no other fish have it. Weird.
