Hi guys,
I finally switchd over to a planted tank and can't believe I waited so long.
Only problem is that CO2 bubble counter gets clogged with white gunk. I see from other posts that it's probably a fungus attracted to the sugar and yeast. OK my problem is that I cleaned off the gunk and now my bubbles aren't going anywhere. They accumulate into one giant bubble and then move up the counter or simply get too heavy and escape the counter.
Is this dangerous for the fish?
I can't see any more fungus but something's obstructing the counter ... any advice?
Thanks

I'm not sure about the gunk, but I have to clean my ladder every week or the bubbles tend to get stuck . I don't think it dangerous to your fish. When something is obstructing the bubbles path such as algae, they tend to get larger than they should. After I clean my ladder the bubbles become much smaller as they get to the top, which is a good thing. I hope this helps.

is this a DIY mixture? i found when i stopped using the baking soda and a little less water i didnt have the problem anymore.plus when you do a mixture change you dont have all that funky white slimy build up..i only used sugsr and the yeast.i think you need to have a kh of at least 5ppm if i remember right to not add the baking soda..please someone correct me if im wrong someone..

this might help

I also don't use the baking soda for my mixture. I found that by not using baking soda it eliminated the white stuff from forming on the tube where the bubbles come out. If I'm not mistaken, if you have a high kh I don't think it's necessary to use baking soda.
