In the process of cycling my tank and Over the last few days I have noticed this white gunk growing that looks like bacteria colonies forming on the insides if the pipes, and when I squeeze the pipe it all falls off and fills the tank with stuff. Was just wondering what it was and if it matters that its there as the tank had only been set up a week?.

Yeah don't worry about it just yet. I cycled my first tank with an internal filter but I remember everything (ornaments/glass) got covered in a milky white residue. It all disappeared on it's own in time. It's pretty common to get funky stuff growing in your tank during cycling. If it's still there after your tank is cycled just give it a good clean (like you would do anyway!) before adding your fish.
