Hey guys, I have noticed in the past few days small (almost pin head size and slightly bigger) white dots which if you were to look closely, they look like small c's or shells are multiplying on the back side of the glass and filters at a fast rate in my tank. I have noticed that a lot of the smaller ones are attached to the glass are attached by something that looks like a web.. Any clues to what these things could be and if they are dangerous to my tank? Everything seems healthy in my tank and a lot of other hitch hikers are starting to appear more often now. My tank has been running for around 9 months now...

Thanks -

they could be tube worms, in which case they are harmless.
Any chance of a pic? It can make identifying things a bit easier :)

Well I can't upload any pictures because I cannot get my images smaller than 100k.... They are like little white small spirals and they are multiplying at a fast rate... Mostly just on the back of the glass and filter components... The smaller ones have a long stringy web thing that they are attached to on the glass...

use www.photobucket.com to upload your pics (any size) and then copy the link and paste it here :)

Have a read of this, i found it deep in the depths of the forum lol.... The problem in your tank could be this, they are called feather dusters or summat.
