Hiya, i am thinking of getting a few WCM's but am concerned about the temperature, my tank runs in the high 70's. will the WCM's withstand this temp' ? :/

Hi Darrk

Thanks Wolf, but there doesn't seem to be any info on the higher end of Temp' compatablity, From what i've read on the net they can survive on short periods in the higher 70's. but am wondering if anyone here has sucessfully kept wcm's at that temp'.

to understand this question you need to understand their natural enviroment.
high up in mountain streams that is used to summer snow melts; therefor
not used to high temps for long periods.
they can take tropical temps but this will speed up their metabolisum and thus shorten
their lifespan.

Okie, Thanks Wolf

I've kept and bred white clouds for years in my parents pond in SW England, have never seen such magnificent specimens as the ones that have been born in the pond. No trouble at all with them surviving the winter (mid you its 4 feet deep in the middle)!

Loads of fry this year - despite the insects and grass snakes.

Goodness only knows - the pond is quite large - about 4m x3m with loads of weed.

The adults generally keep a low profile and you only tend to see them in warm sunny weather unless you look hard. When you do its worth it. I saw a pair spawning one morning - the colour was far better than I ever saw in a tank but then so's the diet - unlimited live food

my parents have 3 WCMs at 76degrees for about 1 and a half years, no problems

My oldest White Clouds are about 1.5 years old now and my tank is normally above 25C. I can't get it any lower and during the summer months it struggles to stay below 28-30. They remain healthy, colourful and don't seem distressed.

It's possible their life may end up shorter because of it, like The Wolf says.

hi the temp seems high i had mine in the 25-27 but i got rid of them i gave them away.
