Please help. I am a newbie and have tried the newbie forum but no one seems to help! For about a week and a half I have had some white..stuff! on my tank walls. It is in patches. It looks a bit like white algae. But, now its floating in the tank. I have a 54ltr tank. I have checked the water and all is fine. In the tank I have

4 Cherry Barbs
2 Bumblebee Gobies
1 Brown Discus (small)
10 Neon Tetras
4 Tiger Barbs
1 Guppie

This week have lost two (live) plants, not sure if Cherry Barbs have eaten them or if it has something to do with the white stuff (How technical)!!
Any ideas welcome!!!!!! ;)

sounds interesting  sorry cant help  but good luck

its relatively common, shows up with no descernable cause, never causes problems, disapears soon after. Can't tell you what it is sorry.

I've had it and so has Eve

Yeah dont worry about it it shows up after the tank has been running for a while but not to long. It will go away. I had it to and it drove me crazy. It will go away.

I currently have it on my new tank but i just scrape it away. It grows in a sort of spotty pattern? I thought it was normal?

Yeah. To begin with i thought it was water stains on the outside.

i think its the first stages of bacteria building up but i could be wrong. as far as i know its normal.
