Which would you want?

ive been hearing alot of stuff about aquaclear and bio wheel and how they both have advantages and disadvatages. which would you rather have?

I have used aquaclear filters (300&500) for about 10 years with no problems. Cheap, effective and as reliable as the sun.

I use bio wheels, never had problem also. Emperor 400's and 280 on my tanks

I have 2 AC300 on my tank and I think they're alot better than the biowheel the reason being that you could put more filter material in the AC and that I'm hearing alot of complaints from work that the wheel on the biowheel often gets stuck....Never had a problem with the AC and they are so simple and easy to use....

Biowheel 330. You can still put a lot of media in there. Also the biowheel doesnt turn continually. It is normal for it to stop and start but after a week or two it works perfect.

We started out with the aquaclear but soon switched to the biowheel and have never looked back.

I voted for the AquaClear filters. They are especially good on large or heavily stocked tanks because it's possible to increase both their biological and mechanical filtration abilities simply by filling the chamber above the sponge with filter floss.

They are also inexpensive compared to most of the other kinds of filters.

I love my Aquaclears! I have one on each of my tanks and love them. They are really easy to work with and to fix and clean out if the impellers get stuck.

What type of filter does a standard juwel tank use?

I have both of these filterson the same tank

I like the bio-wheel because these filters never get clogged
i like the aquaclear because i can use the same filter material over and over

the bio-wheels have a weird cartridge compartment where it would be hard to hold anything like floss in place so you mainly have to get the cartridges. the cartridges need to be replaced often becauser the carbon expires and the floss gets damaged very quickly. the aqauclear's sponge can just be rinsed and it is good to go for a looooong time! plus, you can put pretty much anything you want in the basket.

also, i find the bio-wheel filters make more noie than the aqauclear

i have both types of filters on differnt tanks, and they both work great. but i do prefer the aquaclear because for 1 u can change the flow rates 2 they seem to have better and more water flow through the filter and 3 the filter sponges are much better then the cartrages for the biowheel.
