hi & help.
we need to buy new heaters for our 169L fw tropical ( 48X12X18inches). our heaters are kaput!!! the tank temp is ok at the mo as we're keeping our flat warm until we can replace them. we did have X2 150w tropix heaters but ive decided to go for visitherm replacements as they are fully submersible and seem to have a good reputation. ive looked online & its stating that 100W is suitable for 100L. i want to get 2 heaters really for safety in case one packs in or something ,so wouldX 2 100W be enough for our tank??? or should i be getting x2 150W???? :X
or am i being thick???
just want to make sure im getting it right, tech stuff just not compute in my brain & i get confused when there is probably no need to be.
thanks

lol i would be inclined to get 2 125 or 150's. thing is both will do the job, but if one goes pop and starts heating the tank up, it will take longer to cook your fish with a lower wattage! the ambient temp is the thing hear. if the room the tanks are in, gets cold at night you will need the higher wattage heaters, if not the lower will do the job. lol there is the thing that the heater could stop working altogether, which would leave the remaining heater to take up the slack.

to sum up. i would not go for the 100w heaters unless the ambient temp is very high, 125w should do the job, if the ambient is quite high, and the 150w if the room gets a bit cold a certain times of your.
