I want some bettas but I'm not sure which tank I have would be best... I want to breed them so would a "24 x "12 x "15 tank be best, or the smaller "15 x "8 x "8 tank be best???

Thanks,

Andy.

If you want to breed them, then the tank you house them in shouldn't be the tank you spawn them in, you'll need a seperate tank (5 or 10 gallons are best, half filled). If you're completely new to Betta spawning, take a look and the following link on how to spawn Bettas. Good luck :)

I think you'd want the grow-out tank to be at least 20g. Might as well spawn them in the grow-out tank to avoid stressing the fry by moving them.

Yes I agree - but a 15/20 even 10 gallon tank can be much to big for fry which will get lost in all the water & be unable to get their food. To avoid this just drop your water level to a few inches and then raise it a few weeks after your fry are born.

Are you just asking to house your bettas though?

I do spawn in my grow-outs, using a wide surface area of water & good filtration before fry are born because the (PG Rated here) 'leftovers' of a spawn are actually toxic.

Please ask lots of questions if you are unsure of yourself before spawning your bettas & remember MALES & FEMALES DO NOT MAKE GOOD "TANK MATES"
