hi im gonna be getting Kuhli loaches soon and im gonna make a tank dedicated to them.
at the moment my tank has just the normal gravel you get at shops, but i was thinking of getting sand as i heard the Kuhli loaches enjoy it more.

so my question is which type of Sand subtrate should i get?
someone suggested to me crushed coral sand, but isnt it used for just marine? cause of the Ph lowering?
if i can use this how do i make it so it dosent lower my Ph so much?

Crashed coral will raise kH and pH, not lower it. Generally, you don't want this with Kuhlis, the pH should be slightly acidic to normal (6.5-7.0).

Use the neutral sand, and -- only if your pH is abnormally low or the tap has no buffering -- consider using a small amount of crash corals.

You are correct that sand is the substrate to use.

I use swimming pool filter sand in my tanks. Is neutral and has a more even grain size then many other sands. That helps prevent it packing down as the "small" grains can't get between the "big" ones.

Have a look for "swimming pool supplies" or similar in your business telephone directory or online service. When I lived in Southern England, there was a chain called "Porpoise" that had shops in many of the larger local towns. Here, there are fewer specialist pool shops but that said, there are at least 2 that I know of on my island.

It costs more then building sand or silver sand, but is better material requiring less maintenance because of the grain size issue. I have seen others recommend play pit sand, but have no experience with that. I expect you can buy that at a DIY superstore.
