My little brother loves fish and is good at taking care of them. So for christmas i was thinking of getting him a really weird fish. I was wondering what to get though. I want your opinion on what is the oddest freshwater fish that is fairly easy to take care of and under a 100 bucks.

Does he already have a tank that it will be going into?

If so, what size is it and what's already in it?

:)

First of all how big is his tank?? I don't think there are alot of choices out there for you if it is a small tank. I if it is a big tank that I wolud suggest a arowana maybe some dats. For a small tank I would suggest either a bichir or Abf. (African Butterfy Fish)

Edit...... If you are interested in the arowana and dats you need a big tank about 120 or 200.

For smaller tanks, badis badis or rarer livebearers or killifishes would be good.

What does he have in the tank? Most odballs arent the "community fish", and generally it's either an oddball tank with a few misc. fish, or an oddball with the whole tank to itself. Depending on the fish, you could look at some nice puffers.
They have a great deal of personality.

Zebra spiney eel, if your tank is not over stocked you could get a pair IF you can find some! You need to look for mastacembelus zebrinus, they are small and cute and definately not 'everyday' type fish.
