hehe thanks buddy im still desiding weather to add more live plants

cuz my amano shrimp is eating everything
....maybe ill put him in my other unplanted tank

plus im switching to black sand and a black background and adding cardinals if i can (if i have room)

i have another question 4 u tho

what the best way to swich sand

do i have to grow bacteria or somthing

do i have to do anything but wash it?

**im not adding *// im replacing

it would be cool if somone could help me out

hi
sorry i dont know about the sand we have gravel. more plants would look good!! our amano shrimps never eat our plants but maybe cos thats because we always have lots of algae for them. but they do like algae tablets - quite often see them snatching a tablet away from one of our yoyo loaches & then carrying it off to a quiet corner to munch on.
maybe if you give them some they'll leave your plants alone. oh & they also like lettuce(romaine/kos that sort of stuff)shrimp_steals_tablet.jpg

we have sand in our tanks.all we did was rinse it beforehand in water and used a sieve/colander.sand is good for cories, sharkd etc that like to dig around.our reed fish bury themselves in it!

very nice tank by the way

yes picture 2 is definately the best, more natural and brighter?

yes i did add a 2nd light so it is brighter

im conserned about my plants

they went though some heavy trimming

plants are soooo breakable!!!!!!!

Why are you trimming if there not growing???

i like number 1 myself, it might just be the lighting tho... but i like the center piece plant lol. it just looks more stunning

I like the number two look but i think number one is better for the fish As it seems like it has more to do- Would look awesome with some plants at the back- Perhaps vallis?

Are you absolutely sure it's an amano shrimp (Caridina japonica) ?
It very rare that they actually eat plants. I have approx 10 between 2 tanks and apart from algae and scavenging the gravel for titbits of food, they do no damage to my heavily planted tanks at all.

You really should not move it to an unplanted tank. One of the main requirements is a planted tank.

Edit: No. 2 is more balanced :) so prefer that one.
