I have a lot of fish right now, and hands down, the fish with most personality, are my Garra flavatra (Panda Garra's) I can't really tell them apart ( Mrs. has one she calls Mr. Big ) but as a group, ( I have 5 of them in my Hillstream tank ) they are highly interactive, and always seem to be playing around and acting goofy...

I know single Cichlids, and some other bigger fish, also get big personalities... I've had Oscar's, and Pacu's previously that had big personalities, but of the fish I have today, it's the pandas...

what is your fish with the most personality???

I don’t have many fish so it’s not that hard to choose but my Bristlenose of course is my winner. He’s currently boss of the tank, often telling of the corys of for eating his algae wafer. Still relatively shy but I see him daily eating all the algae in the tank and will always be out when it’s food time. He’s got such a great personality and is a favourite for the non-fish keepers of my house.:)

I think our fish are like us, personality-wise. I keep finding myself doing things my Dad and Mom did, and from watching my kids grow up, they often react to things exactly as I would have at their age. I have to wonder how much of my personality is in my DNA, and how little of my individuality isn't instinct...

So with that POV, what my fish do reflect a personality. It's just whether I find what they do more interesting with some fish than with others. My black neons could be called dull, but they're good at what they do. I think you need 10 of them to see a personality. They are quite curious in a large planted tank.

My Parananochromis dwarf Cichlids are problem solvers, and are always anxious and wary. My Brochis are calm, and it's easy to pretend they're overweight old guys with moustaches.

I have 4 small Neolebias cf trewevasae, a shy Gabonese tetra whose personality interests me at the moment. I can't figure them out. I thought I knew how to give them a tank set up where they'd breed and shine, but I still haven't quite matched my set up to what they want. I like species with puzzling personalities.

My Anomalochromis thomasi are the most fun. They are beautiful to watch. They make excellent parents. And one of the larger males will come right up to the front glass wall and stare me right in the eyes. We often have a stare down contest. Who will blink first. He wins because he has no eyelids.

That would most likely my biggest empire gudgeon... He´s got all his colors developed (which takes quite long before a male is fully colored).

I've only had a couple with any personality, eons ago I had 2 large oscars with it. since then I've only bought stupid fish. pretty but stupid.

While different fish of the same species can have totally different personalities, as a group, I have to go with Panda Garra.
I agree that they have great personalities when I had them I loved them and my family have been regularly asking if I can get them again, unfortunately the answer is no for now but I will definitely get them again in the future. :)
