So far, from what I have owned, I would say the most interactive have been my hoplo catfish before I sold them to make room for new stock, they are very funny, inquisitive and individual, current stock - my gold severum is always at the front of the tank and follows fingers along the glass, probably most individual are male bettas, because I've kept so many (over 30) by themselves in tanks, you get to know them pretty well.

For me, when I had Mollies they were so friendly and relaxed, they'd follow your finger up and down the tank. And as soon as you walked in the room, they'd shoot up to the top in like a blink of an eye in an attempt for food!

But i've never really had a fish thats been an individual sort a guy.
I have 3 Border Loaches at the minute that are right characters!

A female German blue ram I had for 2 years. She would rush to the front of the tank whenever she saw me, and once she knew she had my attention she would look for a snail. Once she found one (as they are quite rare in my tank)she would point real close with her nose motionless and stare at it until I picked it off of whatever it was on and crush it for her - then she would eat it from my hand! God I miss her!

I have only had my tank set up for a year, but my favourite are my 2 clown loaches they a such funny fish and i love watching them, they both sleep together on the sides in a cave i have in my tank :shifty:

Now with my fish i have to say the following

The juvi channa ornatipinnis are great, they have no fear, stick your finger in at your dismise

Also the channa pluero, she is great, always around and about, joins oscars in welcoming you into the room, she is such a softie it beggers belief shes actually a snakehead,

Also my chocolate cichlid, he is great...

The redtail catfish i had until recent was amazing, took two days to work out to take food from your hands, and always came up for a stroke, wish one day to have enough room to keep on correctly, they are amazing

My black delta female guppy. Her son takes after her though so i still have her personality just male version.

well, its not a fish, but it is a freshwater aquarium inhabitant soo....
My ACF, Pheonix....such a character! she is always the first one going after my hand anytime it is in the tank...loves to sit in my palm, have her belly rubbed, follows me around outside of the tank (me outside the tank, not her!!!)....
she is my water puppy lol

Awww that sounds cute just like the german blue ram that gilli had.

There's a fish in all of my tanks that has character...

5 gallon:

My two bettas (tank is divided) are both full of personality. Chomp, my crown-tail is more "look at how pretty I am, maybe if I look pretty enough you'll give me a pellet". After a couple minutes of him half-flaring at you, and you not feeding him, he returns to flare at his reflection in the back of the tank.

Alpha, my veil tail is more wild. He's a jumper, and if you're not fast enough getting his pellets into the water, he'll jump and take them from your hand (much to my dismay... makes life difficult). He never has long fins, he chomps them off so he can swim faster. He's a real rough and tough guy.

---------

10 gallon:

My peppered corydoras, Eh, Bee and Sea (like the alphabet). Eh and Bee are always out front, nosing around and pushing guppies out of their way in search of food. Sea hides out in the back and only comes out after lights out or first thing in the morning. They're always nosing around.

--------

15 gallon:

My 4 otocinclus affinis (OtomusPrime, Otobot, and two as-of-yet-unnamed) are always swimming around together, playing on the glass and chasing each other around. Very fun to watch.

My Dalmation molly is dumb as a brick, but adorable. She's slightly deformed, sterile, and has heavily stunted growth, but that doesn't hold her back. she's always exploring and the second she spots someone near the tank, she dashes to the surface looking for food.

Mine would have to be my Big Green Scat... I just call him 'Big Green'. He thinks he's big stuff.. whenever someone is near the tank he throws up his spines and moves back and forth really quick. When I clean the tank he has no fear lol he pecks at my arm. He was the first brack fish I ever got and was the fish that caught my attention at the LFS and got me interested in Brackish tanks. He's a big show off^^

id have to say that gordo (aka the head) my first fish that i took care of, he was a ballerina goldfish, he lived spoiled for 5 years ,got as big as my fist, he would come up to the surface to get pet, he loved eating lettuce, followed people around the room when we walked by and when he saw that i was getting his clip for the lettuce out, he would swim around in circles and fan his tail and all the fins.

if you stuck you hand in the water he would come and swim into it and brush against it, he was quite the character

out of my current fish id have to say that tony , my orange/red and white guppy has the most personality or maybe is cause he has the biggest tail and fins, but he swims around chasing the other 2 guppies , when both of them (coors and chester) hide under the rock cave they have in the tank, he swims in circles around the cave live a vulture and opens his fins and tail all the way, he looks like a lil flame floating in the water, tony has learned how to use his long fins well, keeping his tail together when he is playing chase so he can swim faster, chester is the old man of the group, he allwasy has his tail and fins fully open and he gingerly wiggles is way around the tank looking pretty, coors though being the most unique guppie i have seen, acts the most fish like of the 3
